JazzyOwl is a UK-based online learning app for children aged 5 to 14. It helps children practise subjects such as Maths, English and Science through quizzes, explanations, progress tracking, XP, levels, streaks, achievements and adaptive learning features.
JazzyOwl is designed to be managed by a parent or legal guardian. Children use learner profiles created and controlled by their parent or guardian.
This Privacy Policy explains how JazzyOwl collects, uses, stores and protects personal data. It also explains the rights that parents, guardians and children have.
Because JazzyOwl is likely to be accessed by children, we aim to design the service in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code, also known as the Children's Code.
We take children's privacy seriously. We do not sell personal data. We do not use children's data for behavioural advertising. We do not ask children for unnecessary personal information.
JazzyOwl is operated by LITTLE ORCHARD PUBLISHING LTD.

JazzyOwl helps you learn. To do that, it remembers some things about your learning, such as your avatar, quizzes, scores, XP and level, streaks and achievements, and the subjects and topics you practise.
JazzyOwl does not sell your information. JazzyOwl does not show adverts based on what you do. JazzyOwl does not ask for your home address, phone number, school name, photo or full legal name.
Please do not type private information into JazzyOwl. Do not type your full name, address, school, phone number, passwords, secrets or anything that could identify you.
Your parent or guardian can see and manage your profile. They can also delete your profile. If something in JazzyOwl worries you or looks wrong, ask a parent, guardian, teacher or trusted adult.
We collect only the information we need to provide JazzyOwl, keep the service safe, support learning, protect accounts and comply with the law.
Email address; account authentication information; account creation date and time; login and security information; account settings; family display name, if provided; support messages sent to us; account deletion date and time, if applicable.
Learner display name or nickname; age or age band; Key Stage (KS1, KS2 or KS3); avatar choices; optional learning theme. Parents and guardians should not use a child's full legal name as their display name — a first name, nickname or non-identifying name should be used instead.
Subjects studied; topics practised; quiz questions shown; answers given; whether answers were correct or incorrect; quiz scores; XP; levels; achievements; daily streaks; skill or progress level; quiz dates and times; learning history; progress summaries.
Quiz titles, questions, answer choices, correct answers, and explanations or notes. Parents must not include unnecessary personal information about children in custom quiz content.
Some parts of JazzyOwl allow users to type text. This text may be checked by automated moderation systems. Users must not enter private personal information, offensive content, or anything unsuitable for children.
IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, pages visited, access dates and times, error logs, security logs and approximate region based on connection data.
JazzyOwl does not ask children for: full legal name; home address; phone number; school name; photographs; precise location; payment card details; social media accounts; or passwords for other services.
JazzyOwl does not sell personal data. JazzyOwl does not use behavioural advertising. JazzyOwl does not use children's data for third-party marketing.
We use personal data to: create and secure parent or guardian accounts; create and manage learner profiles; provide quizzes and learning activities; adapt learning difficulty; show scores, XP, levels, streaks, achievements and progress; provide explanations for quiz questions; allow parents or guardians to create custom quizzes; moderate user-submitted text; prevent misuse; fix technical problems; respond to support requests; send important service, privacy or safety notices; and comply with legal obligations.
We do not use children's personal data to show behavioural advertising or to sell information to third parties.
Lawful basis: Contract performance. We need parent or guardian account data to provide the JazzyOwl service, allow account access, secure the account and manage learner profiles.
Lawful basis: Legitimate interests. We use learner profile and learning data to provide a child-focused learning service. We reduce privacy risks by collecting only limited information, avoiding advertising and the sale of personal data, giving parents or guardians control over learner profiles, allowing deletion, using high privacy settings by default, and moderating text fields where appropriate.
Where JazzyOwl relies on consent, including for any feature involving a child under 13 where consent is legally required, that consent must be given or authorised by the child's parent or guardian. Consent can be withdrawn by deleting the relevant learner profile, deleting the account or contacting us.
Lawful basis: Legal obligation. We may process limited personal data where necessary to comply with legal duties or respond to lawful requests.
In rare cases, if we believe there is a serious risk to a child or another person, we may process or disclose limited information where necessary and lawful to protect someone's safety.
JazzyOwl uses AI to help provide quiz explanations and content moderation. AI explanations are intended to support learning. They are not a replacement for a teacher, parent, guardian or other professional, and may sometimes be wrong or incomplete.
When using AI services, JazzyOwl aims to send the minimum information needed: quiz question text, subject or topic name, answer choices, the correct answer, the learner's optional general learning theme, and text submitted for moderation. JazzyOwl does not intentionally send the child's full legal name, parent email address, home address, phone number, school name, precise location or payment details to the AI provider.
JazzyOwl is designed with children's privacy and safety in mind. We aim to:
Because JazzyOwl is likely to be accessed by children and processes children's learning data, a Data Protection Impact Assessment should be completed before launch and reviewed when JazzyOwl adds major new features or changes how personal data is used.
JazzyOwl does not use cookies for advertising or behavioural tracking. JazzyOwl may use essential cookies, local storage or similar technologies where needed to keep users signed in, maintain account security, remember basic settings and operate the website correctly.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We only share personal data with the following service providers:
Stores account data, learner profiles, learning and progress data, and custom quiz data. Expected region: EU (Frankfurt, Germany).
Hosts the jazzyowl.school website and may process technical data such as IP addresses and access logs.
Powers the AI explanation feature and content moderation. Receives limited text needed to provide the AI feature. JazzyOwl aims not to send unnecessary personal information to Anthropic.
We may share limited personal data only where necessary to comply with the law, protect children or users, or investigate security incidents.
Some service providers may process personal data outside the United Kingdom. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we will use appropriate safeguards required by UK data protection law, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Account and learner data is kept while the account is active. If a learner profile is deleted, the active profile and related progress data will be deleted from the live database. If the entire account is deleted, all active account data, learner profiles, progress and custom quizzes will be deleted from the live database. Some deleted data may remain temporarily in encrypted backups before being automatically deleted or overwritten.
Security measures include: HTTPS encryption; secure authentication with password hashing; Row-Level Security so each family can only access their own data; server-side API keys never exposed to the browser; content moderation for user-submitted text; and monitoring for errors, misuse and security issues.
Your rights under UK data protection law include: the right to be informed; access your data; correct inaccurate data; delete your data; restrict processing; object to processing; withdraw consent; and complain to the ICO. Parents or guardians can delete learner profiles or accounts through the app. For other requests, contact us at: jazzyowl.support@gmail.com. We will usually respond within one month.
If you have a concern, please contact us first at jazzyowl.support@gmail.com. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

AI explanations are provided for learning support only. They may be inaccurate or incomplete, are not professional advice and are not guaranteed to match a school curriculum perfectly. Children should check with a parent, guardian or teacher if unsure.
You are responsible for making sure any custom quiz content you create is accurate enough for your intended use, suitable for children, lawful, respectful and free from unnecessary personal information. JazzyOwl may block or remove custom quiz content that appears unsafe, inappropriate or unlawful.

By adding it to JazzyOwl, you give JazzyOwl a limited licence to store, process and display it to your family for the purpose of providing the service.
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure. Contact us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
We aim to keep JazzyOwl available, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. JazzyOwl may be unavailable because of maintenance, updates, bugs, security incidents, third-party provider outages or events outside our control. We may change, pause, remove or improve features from time to time.
Parents or guardians can delete their account through the app. We may suspend or terminate an account if these Terms are broken, the account is misused, there is a security risk or a child-safety concern. Where reasonable, we will give notice before terminating an account.
JazzyOwl is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for mistakes in AI-generated content, temporary unavailability, loss of progress data caused by technical problems, or indirect losses. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or fraud.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify parents or guardians by email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes are notified means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, unless consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim somewhere else.
